Getting the most from your Architect

Without sound advice and the right design expertise it is easy to spend a lot of money and not add any real value to your project.

We believe every building should be specific to you, your site and budget, one size does not fit all.

Consider the following points for discussion with your Architect:

Design
Consider how you want your building to look and feel, consider the surroundings and context of the project. What is the required time scale for the works? What are the space requirements inside & outside? How should the building work for those using it?

Lifestyle
For residential design projects consider aspects of your lifestyle, like your desire for privacy, plans for family, entertaining needs and general interests & hobbies. In addition to your immediate requirements, discuss your thoughts concerning future uses of your home. Although it is sometimes hard to envisage your future requirements its useful to discuss this to inform the design.

Location
Think about what you need from a site. If you’ve selected or are considering specific sites, begin to match your list of requirements to what the site or building offers. Together we can make site decisions involving orientation and design, depending on your specific preferences, such as natural light, maximising privacy or capturing a particular view.

Money
A building or renovation project is often a once in a life time opportunity and a substantial investment involving short and long term financial commitments. Finishes, day-to-day running and maintenance add to the total cost. We can help you develop a realistic estimate for the building & running costs developing a design solution that suits your budget considering your short and long term needs. We can assist in developing and managing financial constraints throughout the process.
